The weather was unhelpful, the crops poor, the bureaucrats annoying and the people who should support us to ensure the future of our farms and heritage, have been positively incompetent and unhelpful. However, we battle on keeping the ship on an even keel despite being repeatedly rammed just below the water line.
It is depressing to watch as public institutions, the BBC, the police, Whitehall and some politicians and others are being brainwashed by the extremist militant trans lobby, which has been trying to silence the voices of women and girls. As some commentators have said, this is Britain in 2023 - not 17th century Salem. The women who have publicly stood up to the bullies deserve medals.
It is sad to see the nation’s children under pressure and clearly suffering from the effects of social media. I suspect their so called ‘mental health’ issues is not just by the content they are watching and online bullying, but also from the effect of the radiation they are exposed to as they spend hours glued to their mobile phones. I cannot expand upon this notion as when I recently raised the matter my column was cancelled.
It is concerning that the best Rishi Sunak could do to beef up his cabinet was to bring David Cameron out of retirement, a man well past his sell by date. It is also clear he is still wedded to the EU and has already made pointed statements encouraging closer integration. Between him and Tony Blair who has also emerged from the undergrowth offering ‘advice’ to all and sundry, particularly Kier Starmer. We should be worried.
As several commentators have said in recent weeks, if the PM really wanted to boost his chances of winning the next General Election, he would have done better to bring back the one who won an 80-seat majority.
The COVID enquiry appears to be all about apportioning blame. Apparently, those conducting the proceedings had crystal balls in 2020, what a pity they did not share their psychic revelations at the time. As it was, the PM and ministers were doing their best to juggle the advice from scientists, doctors, so called advisers and economists. There were no instruction books, the world had never experienced such an epidemic.
So, what should we look forward to in 2024? Less pandering to minority extremist groups. A bit more common sense when it comes to the environment. Some proper leadership where and when it matters, and some joined up thinking when it comes to negotiating with unions hell bent on destroying the country along with the economy. A new chancellor who understands economics and will revitalise the economy through intelligent tax planning which encourages work ethics, enterprise, and investment. Some proper British seasonal weather would be helpful to farmers too.
Happy New Year.
