The devastating floods in Germany, Belgium and other European countries has caused loss of life and wrecked people’s homes, businesses and whole communities.
We too have seen in the UK how powerful, relentless and destructive flood water can be.
According to a recent report from Nasa the world faces an onslaught of coastal flooding starting in the mid-2030s due to a “wobble” in the moon’s orbit. It says the number of floods could quadruple as the gravitational effects of the lunar cycle combine with climate change to produce “a decade of dramatic increases” in water disasters.
The main cause was a “regular wobble” in the moon’s orbit which was first recorded in 1728. One of the wobble’s effects on the moon’s gravitational pull – the main cause of Earth’s tides – will combine with the rising sea levels resulting from the planet’s warming. The wobble in the moon’s orbit takes 18.6 years to complete.
Apparently, half the time the high tides will be lower than normal, and low tides will be higher than normal. Both resulting in coastal flooding as global sea levels rise.
The moon’s gravitational pull, rising sea levels, and climate change will continue to exacerbate coastal flooding on our coastlines and across the world.
The report goes on to say that it is crucial that urban planners prepare for the increase in high-tide floods as well as extreme weather events, to protect businesses and people’s livelihoods.
Floods could occur up to 10 times a month, resulting in businesses being unable to operate with car parks under water, resulting in people losing their jobs as they cannot get to work. Seeping cesspools will also become a public health issue.
The Runnymede Trust has produced a report which states that Britain is fundamentally racists. It goes on to claim the government is in breach of its human rights obligations, finding that racism is ‘systemic’, with our laws, and institutional practices which are all to blame.
Considering that 99.9% of the British public are colour blind when it comes to our fellow citizens, I believe those who compiled this ‘report’ are plain wrong.
None of us care what colour a person’s skin is. However, we do care how people behave, that they treat others and their property with respect, and that they are law abiding, patriotic and hardworking.
This is the 21st Century; we have all grown up in a mixed society. This ‘report’ is basically unhelpful, untrue, and probably created to undermine the government, stir up unrest by giving certain minority troublemakers, who call themselves “anti-racism” campaigners, a platform.
It was of course sad to see England’s young footballers abused, mostly on social media, for missing their penalties. However, I am sure had they been white, the same treatment would have been handed out.
During the last General Election, our local MP had numerous roadside posters with her image defaced, several with a ‘penis’, similar to that drawn on Marcus Rashford’s mural. No one said that was racists or sexists or whipped up the locals.
The BBC and Guardian gleefully jumped on the ‘bandwagon’ and escalating the non-story, which was not about colour.
The campaign for taking the knee has not helped the cause. Sadly, these images remind us of last summer when nonwhites smashed up town centres, abused the police, and spat in the faces of law-abiding white people, including children. Not an image that evokes sympathy.
The story following the Euros 20 Final, should have been to identify every single hooligan, mostly white, who rampaged through the turn stiles while their mates trashed Leicester Square, including the theatres, and intimidated theatre goers with their disgusting uncivilized behaviour.
