I am tempted to ask if these cells are fed on grass or lab produced chemicals, and where the flavour, so distinct from grass fed beef, comes from.
It is said this process will in time replace beef, lamb, chicken, pork, and fish, and enable companies to reproduce skin from exotic and endangered animals, even for Crocodile-skin handbags.
This will they say in due course, create a world without farm animals. The sight and sounds of cattle and sheep grazing in the countryside will be consigned to the history books. Traditional farming bringing natural nutrients, and improving soil fertility and the countryside, will cease. The use of fossil fuel artificial fertilisers will be essential for arable crops, without which harvest yields will be reduced to pre-industrialization. Is GM the answer?
Is this what the public want? A sanitized countryside, artificial lab grown food, future generations living in a world where food production is controlled, sterile and leaving no choice. It will be interesting to see just how healthy populations will be in the future. I certainly hope by then I will no longer be above ground!
Balancing budgets is certainly something we should all pay attention to. Currently belts require tightening, (not just metaphorically) and savings must be identified regarding household bills, and transport.
Advice is being offered on how to budget, and prepare nourishing, affordable meals. However, it appears the message is viewed differently depending on who is giving it. They are criticised for their insensitivity if they are conservative but praised for being kind and helpful from those leaning to the left.
It is a funny old world where everything is politically weaponized, including the notion that people are only allowed to have ‘views’ on biological sex, gender neutral legislation, and institutional racism, if those views match those of the self-appointed banner waving, minority politically correct.
All these topics are off the table unless you agree with the minority, including middle class evangelical church leaders.
My latest hero is Calvin Robinson, the black former assistant headmaster, consultant for education, and political commentator, who has been training for ordination.
He questioned the Bishop of London and Archbishop of Canterbury’s view that ‘this country is institutionally racists’. As a black man he is surely more qualified than they, but nevertheless his views were dismissed, and his ordination blocked by the Bishop of Edmonton.
