The events taking place in the Middle East, started when innocent people of all ages, including children and babes torn from their mother’s arms, were brutally slaughtered by Hamas terrorists.
As many commentators and columnists, including the excellent articles by Sarah Vine, Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Boris Johnson, explain vividly how Hamas is not fighting for liberty and prosperity for Palestine and Muslims but ultimately the annihilation of Israel and the imposition of an Islamic State. Ayaan Hirsi Ali said, “Hamas is like Isis the enemy of Israel, of the Jews, of Palestine, of peace and freedom – they are the enemies of Western civilisation itself.”
We like to think such atrocities could never happen here, sadly is could. As Sarah Vine said, “Don’t ever think it can’t happen to you. For all the moderate, intelligent people of different cultures who live in this country, it appears there are far too many who openly decry and despise everything we stand for, who take our kindness for weakness, who view the tolerant, liberal democracy not as a haven, but as a Trojan horse for their extremist beliefs.”
She said, “Those who marched in Kensington, who celebrated in the streets of West London on the night of the attacks, who joyously shared videos of atrocities as glorious victories against the Jewish people, are living amongst us. If those atrocities can happen there, it can happen here.”
As they say, if we turn a blind eye in the name of ‘tolerance’ and a ‘diverse society’, to those smashing up Jewish restaurants in Golders Green, screaming abuse and threatening to behead British Jews in their beds, we are betraying not only ourselves and future generations, but also those who look to Britain as one of the few countries in the world where equality, freedom of speech and basic human rights still exist.
Our prisons are overflowing but some believe jail is the soft option, not a deterrent, except for rapists, murderers, and dangerous criminals, who must be locked up for life.
I doubt capital punishment will ever be reinstated but corporal punishment would help deter many offenders. A public flogging would sort out many of those filling cells and costing taxpayers a fortune. It would make people think twice before stealing, felling iconic trees, committing fraud, domestic abuse and much else.
Labour won’t help as they vow to jail those using ‘wrong’ pronouns rather than accurately acknowledging a person’s sex, for up to two years. If, God forbid, they ever win a General Election, that takes care of where I could spend my final days!
