The Government recently announced it was making fly-tipping a priority as part of its Anti-Social behaviour plan. On-the-spot fines for those who fly-tip will more than double from £400 to up to £1,000 and league tables will be published for fly-tipping, to high-light authorities failing in their obligation to crack down on the problem. Hopefully this is effective as fly-tipping has reached epidemic proportions. However, considering most culprits are professionals and devious, will they get caught?
Last week there were reports that a Russian ship was spotted lurking around wind farms off the UK coast. It is believed to be part of a spying operation to map the undersea infrastructure in the North Sea. Although the Admiral Vladimirsky is classified as a ‘research vessel’ it is allegedly part of a fleet examining key energy sites gathering intelligence off the coast of Scotland in particular. Last November they were spotted in the Moray Firth; rumour has it, Russia plans to future sabotage of critical sites.
As an island which relies heavily on imported energy, fuel, and power, we are sitting ducks for rogue states who wish to disable our infrastructure. As the government aims for net zero with plans for just about everything to rely on electricity, we will become increasingly vulnerable.
If the UK becomes entirely dependent upon computers managing everything from water and gas supplies, communications, transport, road haulage, deliveries to supermarkets and other outlets. And, waste management, air travel, charging battery operated vehicles, and much else besides, it is clear to see that a well targeted attack would close down the entire country in an instant. Is anyone taking this matter seriously?
The public are growing increasingly weary having to cope with today’s ‘modern sensitivities’. It is time the present generation of snowflakes grew up and learnt to accept that if they don’t like something, be it the content of books, films, our history, iconic statues, traditions, other people’s opinions or lectures, and everyday norms, they should, like our generation and all who came before us, learn to be open minded and tolerant.
If something offends walk away or learn to live with the idea that we are not all the same. It is time to grow up, become tolerant, accept healthy debate, and stop this egotistical culture.
It is time society stops pandering to these minorities who are political, racial, gender and so called eco-related extremists, interested only in imposing their often-dodgy opinions on the majority, whilst shutting down any opportunity for views other than their own.
I am puzzled as to why Hereford farmer John Price, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison and fined over £600k, for clearing the banks and dredging the bottom of the River Lugg. Only last month a team from the Environment Agency carried out exactly the same type of work on a section of the river flowing through our farm. Will those guys now be locked up and fined?
